Downtown Charlottesville turned purple on Wed­nesday morning as the small ­Virginia city came out to mourn its daughter Heather Heyer. At the request of Heyer’s family the mourners wore purple, her favourite colour. “Char­lottes­ville strong” it said on the ­theatre’s display board, but in truth this quiet student city felt as if it was still in shock from the weekend’s events.
