G. Cristina Mora, UC Berkeley

G. Cristina Mora is a professor of sociology at the University of California, Berkeley. Her research focuses on racial and ethnic categorization, organizations and immigration.

Currently, Mora is working on new projects that examine how national Latino political organizations in the United States and Spain implement panethnic agendas. She also studies immigrant religion and political mobilization, as well as on Pentecostalism in Latin America.

Her book, Making HIspanics (2014, Chicago), provides a socio-historical account of the rise of the “Hispanic/Latino” panethnic category in the United States. Her work has also been published in venues like The American Sociological Review, Annual Review of Sociology and Ethnic and Racial Studies.
