Data Purchase Requests

ISS accepts requests for funding to purchase or access new data sets. The Executive Committee will make decisions based on (among other criteria) how much impact the data access/purchase will have on students and faculty in the division.

Faculty Support

Faculty seed grants will be directed to new research projects, which should involve at least one social scientist as the lead, two or more departments, and must be truly interdisciplinary in nature.

Lead a Proseminar

ISS proseminars give selected faculty (designated as ISS Fellows) the opportunity to lead interdisciplinary graduate seminars in topics that are of broad interest to graduate students across the division. Proposals from faculty in the social sciences interested in leading a Proseminar in 2017-18 are currently being accepted. Deadline: Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 5:00 p.m.

Event Co-sponsorship

The Institute for Social Sciences is pleased to invite co-sponsorship requests for smaller events (lectures, colloquia, small conferences) on a rolling basis, at up to $250 per request.

Reading Group Support

ISS supports reading groups in order to encourage and allow faculty and graduate students to assemble on a regular basis to discuss various thematic and interdisciplinary areas of interest. Topics should be related to the social sciences, but participation of faculty and students from academic disciplines outside the social sciences is welcomed and encouraged.
