UCD Prof Studies Teen Aggression as a Social Climbing Tool

“Like most people, I have an interest in conflict,” said Robert Faris, associate professor of sociology at UC Davis since 2007.

Faris, who lives in Davis with his wife and young daughter, analyzes social networks to figure out why teens bully each other, drink and do drugs, and engage in dating violence. And his work has led to two Emmy-winning collaborations — one in 2011 and another in 2015 — with Anderson Cooper 360°, the CNN news program.
